We are here with a new movie "Aiyyaa" that is released in the year of 2012. This is an Indian comedy film that is directed by Vasan Bala. The story of this movie takes place in Bangalore, India in the 1980s. The title of the movie "Aiyyaa" means “mother” in Kannada. This story revolves around Maya (Farah Khan), who has been married to Vinod for more than 20 years and was brought up to be a great homemaker and wife by her mother-in-law. She finds herself restless after she finds out about her husband's affair with their maid servant Jhumki (Vidya Malvade). Jhumki is an orphan, who comes to live with her, her husband and Maya. Jhummki ends up becoming the reason for Maya's extramarital affairs, which she even feels guilty about. Vinod tries to keep the relationship between Jhumki and Maya secret by lying. Maya's mother-in-law (Lalita Pawar) plans to get rid of Jhumki by making her marry Vinod's rich nephew (Adil Hussain), as she believes that a woman of a younger family becomes less important once the older generation dies off. The two women decide that they would leave Vinod after finding out about his affair immediately after their mothers' death. Vinod is killed after a car accident and Jhumki ends up staying with the widowed Maya. The film then shows the adjustments that they go through. "Aiyyaa" was released on 30 January 2012 and became a huge success in India. The film had grossed $12 million worldwide, of which $2 million was from Indian box office. It was one of the highest rated films in its genre and created a sensation at the box office. It had a huge opening of 70% on first day. The film was also screened at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. . Singer Shreya Ghoshal won the Best Female Playback Award for her song "Raat Aa Bhi Jaa" from "Aiyyaa" at the 60th Filmfare Awards, while Raghav Sachar won Best Choreography Award for his work in this movie.. It was also India’s official entry at the 2012 Academy Awards. The screenplay is written by A.R. Rahman and Vasan Bala, with dialogues penned by Akshay Khandekar and Vasan Bala himself . The film was produced by Manish Mundra, Farhan Akhtar, Rekha Rao and Gulzar under the banner of Excel Entertainment. Aiyyaa soundtrack is composed by A. R. Rahman with lyrics penned by Gulzar .
